Christmas Presents!

I'm back home after what seems like ages (although it was only just over a week). Back to revision and my little furry babies <3 I had an interesting New Years, it was really good fun, but there were some bits that were just strange :P I went to visit one of my friends and it was great to catch up again after so long ^ - ^

Anywayy presents! I've already posted about my main present, the gorgeous Jeffrey Campbell Litas, so here are the other things I got for Christmas :)

I was given three books this year: My Passion For Water (such pretty pictures in this one ^ - ^), Life Of Pi (I've been meaning to read this for ages and ages) and a gluten free cookbook (I really need to start cooking more exciting food). My cousin and his wife gave me a set of flavoured vodka :P I can't wait until after exams so I can drink these! My Aunt and Uncle gave me a pretty blue bracelet, and my other cousin gave me a HUGE jar of bon bons :P

My boyfriend gave me Valentino's Valentina perfume, I've been pining over this for ages, it's just so pretty ^ - ^ I was very happy when I unwrapped it as he'd remembered :P

In my stocking I got some adorably packaged Fortnum and Mason sweeties, I've got a little collection of sweets in pretty jars, so I'm going to try not to eat them :P  I also got a gorgeous smelling candle (Holly Berry), a silver bracelet, and some Jack Wills sticky notes (useful for all the revision I've been doing - _ -).

I hope everyone had a great Christmas and New Year! This past year has been fantastic, so I'm excited to see what's in store for me this year :)

Merry Christmas Everyone

I hope you've all had a wonderful day :) I really have, after being at uni for so long it's nice to have a big get together with my family (about 15 of us, plus 6 dogs). Apart from getting quite ill for a while (I gave in and ate sausages even though the bread in them makes me ill...) I had a great day (and am feeling loadsss better now :P).

15 peoples worth of presents really doesn't fit under one tree :P

At some point I'm going to show you my pressies, but for now I'm just going to say Merry Christmas everyone :)

(Also, I really liked this years Doctor Who, Matt Smith is my favourite thing ever :P)

It's the most wonderful time of the year!

This time next week it's Christmas Eve and I am very excited! :D I'm home after over three months of being at uni and I'm very much enjoying it, free food, warmth, a washing machine that actually cleans my clothes properly! It's wonderful here :D Oh, and the little furry things that are wandering around, they're pretty good too :P

I've been revising all day, and though I was going to do a proper post I now realise that it is nearly midnight and I'm tired, so I'm cheating and have decided to do an easy post about how much I love Christmas! :P
  • Being at home - Technically not Christmas specific, but it does feel a lot more Christmassy now that I'm back.
  • Decorations! - The moment I got back I got out all the decorations, although this wasn't exactly hard as our decorations consist of a few bits of tinsel and the TINIEST tree ever (although I have convinced my dad to go and buy a bigger tree this year, YAY :D).
Tiny, tiny, tiny tree (and a book on rolling next to it :P)
  • Food - Obviously, Christmas is all about the food. Not just on Christmas day, but the lead up as well, there are chocolates and biscuits in the house all of a sudden, cinnamon is everywhere, and my somewhat odd obsession with eating little jars of caviar starts up again...
  • Family - Christmas day is always so busy with hundreds upon thousands of family members milling around (slight hyperbole here). Every year we go and spend Christmas at my cousins house, and so do most other family members close enough to get there, it's nice to see everyone again, especially after being far away at uni.
  • Presents - I'm not going to pretend that I don't love getting presents at Christmas, I love it. But giving presents and seeing what everyone else is getting is fun too :P But it is nice to see the little pile of gifts you've gotten that day...
  • Doctor Who - When everyone's tired and full it's great to lie down on the sofa, unable to move and watch all the great Christmas tv.
Now that I've written this out I'm even more excited! I just have to make it through the next few days of intense revision (whoever invented the concept of January exams was an evil evil Grinch of a human) and it's time for Christmas! :D

New Look Christmas Party Outfit

I love glitter, really really love glitter, and I feel like Christmas is one of the few times it's okay to completely overdose on the glitter :P So here's an outfit where I've allowed my (slightly crazy) glitter infatuation have full reign.

All of these items are from New Look. If you want to make a party outfit based on your body shape (although mine is a lot more based on my glitter obsession...) have a look at New Look's Shape Up For Our Christmas Party Blogger Comp!

Ask Her Friends Website Review

I love Christmas. Really really really love it. I love the cold weather, curling up in woolly things and fluffy socks, the food, cinnamon candles and the festive spirit. But most of all I love giving presents! (And lets be honest, I love receiving them too ;) ). So when I got an email asking me to check out a new website called AskHerFriends to help present buying I was really interested.

Ask Her Friends is a website which helps guys to pick out presents for their female loved ones (although I've been using it to find my mum pressies!). The website asks you who you're buying for (for me I chose mother), then price range (I chose £30-£60) and then there are two options 'That's all I know' or 'Wait there's more'. If you select 'That's all I know' you get loads of possible presents turn up, which isn't too helpful. But if you chose 'Wait there's more' (and hopefully most people know at least a little about the person they're buying for :P) you get further questions about the person to help narrow down the presents.

Ask Her Friends homepage

The question part is called the 'Idea Map' and I always find these things fun :P It has a couple of questions about what she normally wears and a couple about what activities she likes to do. The best part is that you don't have to select just one answer, useful when the person falls into more than one category.

Idea Map

Ask Her Friends finds presents fitting your answers from loads of different retailers, so there's a great variety. Here are the top four picks for my Mums present, and apart from the first dress I think my mum would really like them, so I was quite impressed :) Luckily there's a handy little 'She won't like this' button under each item, so it can switch with another.

Top four present choices
Next you can create an 'Advice List' of the top three picks and if you need to there is an option to email these choices to the persons friends to ask if they think they'd like it (very useful for the slightly clueless males using this :P).

The website also acts as a normal shopping website if you want to, so you can just browse what's on there. Once you click on something to buy you're redirected to the original website for the item and buy it through them.

Overall I'm really liking this website, it's fun to use and I can imagine boyfriends, husbands and brothers finding it especially useful when they want to buy something nice, but don't know what! I'll be recommending this to all my male relatives (and probably some female ones as well :P).

The only downsides I can see are the fact that you have to know the person relatively well (but if you didn't you probably wouldn't be buying a present for them anyway) and that if you have lots of people you're buying pressies for the whole question part could get a bit time consuming.

New Year, New Set Of Resolutions, and the Last Few Christmas Presents

On the 1st of January I woke up on my friends sofa feeling awful, so I didn't start any resolutions that day :P I've decided to move my new years resolutions to after my exams, because I NEED chocolate whilst revising for an exam I know I'm going to fail. There's no point being healthy right now :P

So in two weeks time I will start my resolutions:

1) GO TO BED AT REASONABLE HOURS!!!!
It's so important but somehow so difficult at the same time....

2) Actually use my Delia Smith cookbook this term.
Everything looks so yummy, but I never have time and just make pasta and vegetables every day > . <

3) KEEP UP TO DATE WITH MY NOTES!
I still haven't finished my notes for the last two lectures of term....

3) Find new music.
My itunes is seriously lacking, I always listen to the same things.

4) Try, try, try, try, try, try, try, try to keep control of my finances.
Self explanatory, I have no self control.

5) Branch out with my make up buying.
Try new exciting brands, totally not in keeping with resolution No. 4 :P

I'll let you know if I actually manage to succeed in any of these :P

Here's the last little collection of Christmas presents I got this year, I had one Christmas with the main bulk of my family on Christmas day, but went to my Aunt's house and had another on Boxing day, YAY! :P

My youngest cousin gave me these eyeliners, they're quite cute and have little sharpeners for lids which I think is a really good idea because I always lose my sharpener.

I've never tried Soap And Glory products before, but I've always wanted to because of the great designs and the positive reviews, I got the Hand Maid Gel and Scrub Of Your Life (I've used this twice and I LOVE it so much, it makes my skin so soft and I haven't had a bad reaction to it, unlike when I tried The Sanctuary's body scrub). I got these in the mini sizes, but when I run out I'll definitely buy the full sized product.

My Aunt got me this Radley umbrella, I love Radley, the Scottie dogs are so cute, but I find the bags a bit too grown up for me. This umbrella is perfect though :P

My Dad got me this Hello Kitty memo pad, because when I was helping him buy presents for my cousins I saw the Hello Kitty Liberty Print collection in Waterstones I went a little bit mad and got very excited :P. This should (in theory :P) keep me organised for next term.

I also got a gift card for Debenhams so I recently bought these cute boots. I'm boot crazy in winter and just want EVERY SINGLE PAIR I FIND :P I love how they lace up, soooo very cute.

I got the Smashbox Photo Finish Primer, because I've heard loads about how good it is and I've never tried a Smashbox product before, and I really needed a primer :P

Finally I got Benefit's Boi-ing (I love Benefit far too much, hence resolution No.5). I had this in my Realness Of Concealness box, which I got last year, but it was in the medium shade which was too dark for me. Even so I could tell that it was a really good product, so I've been pining for it for ages and ages.

I can't wait to try out all my new things over this month ^ - ^

Happy New Year!

Christmas is over! But now I have presents!

I am so tired...Christmas has drained all of my energy.... :P I had a great Christmas and I got some great pressies ^ - ^ I got loads of lovely pressies from my friends and family, and I thought I'd share a few of my beauty related presents here :)

(The chocolate bear isn't beauty related, but it is yummy ^ - ^)

The first present I opened was the Yves Saint Laurent Touche Éclat. I literally squealed when I opened it > . < I have been wanting to try this out for so long! I got it in shade 1 and as I use it I will review it in a later post :)

Next up I got the Marc Jacobs Daisy Eau So Fresh perfume, which I actually specifically asked for this Christmas. My mum gave me a teeny sample bottle a while ago (along with Vera Moda Lovestruck) and I loved it so much I asked for it for Christmas. I adore the Daisy packaging, but I really don't like the smell of the original Daisy perfume, but when I tried out this new one it was so different and delicious, it's really floral and fresh and I can't wait to wear it in the Spring and Summer :D It's also huge, I got the 75ml bottle, so I think that should last me a while :P

Finally I got the cutest gift box of Benefit products ever, it's so adorable looking, I can't wait to put it on my dresser ^ - ^. Inside I got Benefits new(ish) mascara They're Real! which I cannot wait to try out, my favourite mascara in the whole wide world is Benefits Bad Gal, so I'm really excited about this one :) Then I got a Lust Duster pot in a gorgeous pinky lilac colour called Jelly Roll, I don't have any eyeshadows in this colour, so it'll be really useful, and I haven't tried the Lust Dusters before, so that's another exciting product to test :D Last but not least I got the gorgeous r.s.v.p creaseless cream, which I have been pining over since I got my first Benefit Creaseless Cream for my birthday. It's a gorgeous bronze pink colour and smells beautiful. I think I might have to increase my collection of Creaseless Creams, I find them just so gorgeous.

I have a few more things to share, but these were my favourite beauty related gifts :)

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas with their friends and family <3

New House, Pets and JANUARY EXAMS

I'm home! Yays :) Except that we've moved and I have a new house, so it's not the home I left :P I've spent the last couple of days unpacking boxes (so boring) but finally my bedroom is starting to look more like my own :)

I'm back with my pets! I've missed having fluffy things wandering around, at uni it's so pet-less :( So sad. I had forgotten just how much dog fur gets on my clothes though - _ - I need three clothes brushes to make my clothes not ginger and fluffy anymore.... Technically the pets aren't allowed upstairs, but I let my cat up last night to nap on my bed, shhh :P

I went Christmas shopping yesterday (woo Christmas :P) and got two Rimmel products : a red lipstick from the Kate Moss range in 01, I've been wanting a statement red lipstick for ages, I think it's especially good for the holidays, very festive :) I also got a lip liner in 024 red diva, for the lipstick. I got the lipstick for £5, on sale down from £6.50 and the lip liner for £3.99, so not really pricey :P

I'm writing this as a break from revising...it's so very very boring :P After a while I just want to curl up and sleep :P Once my January exams are over I might reward myself with a shopping spree I probably can't afford ;P

Merry Christmas!

Christmas Time, New Boots and Nail Polish

It's getting very very very cold! ^ - ^ I'm going home in a few days, and I can't wait :) As much as I've enjoyed my first term of uni, I am looking forward to going home and seeing my pets! I only have one exam this week (tomorrow eeeeeeeep!) and then I'm free (ignoring the January exams of course :P). I have to start packing all my stuff on Thursday > . < I hate packing :P

Earlier this week there was a funfair in town! It was really teeny tiny, but it had a few good rides. My friends went on a huge one with two arms which swung you around...I stayed on the ground and held their bags :P I don't think I like heights too much :P. I did get a chance to play on some of the rides though :D I almost lost my hat on a couple and had to tie my shoes up extra extra tight to stop them from flying off :P

Speaking of shoes my darling blue boots from New Look last year have officially died *cries*. I've worn them so much that the sole has completely worn out. :( They're not waterproof anymore, the final straw was my feet getting soaked through :P I can't handle that. To replace them I got these cuties from River Island for £35. They're black lace up suede boots with grippy soles (definitely good on all these icy hills :P) they have a small wedge as well which I really like, it's always good to be a bit taller ;)

My only other new item this month (I'm poor because of Christmas :P) is this cute Nails Inc. nail polish in Basil Street. It's a really cute nude pink colour and I've been wearing it non stop. I love how elegant and understated it looks. It really enhances any outfit. I really love Nails Inc. varnishes, I need to buy more! :P

That's my short, end of term at uni post, hopefully I'll have more over Christmas, what with all the presents :P Hehehe <3
