Mini Beauty Haul

It's the middle of exams at the moment so I'm rather stressed at the moment, and in my world the answer to stress is shopping, and lots of it. My beauty haul wasn't so bad, but just wait until my clothes haul...that was a little crippling for my bank account...

I had a mini version of this Ted Baker body spray from a gift set and had been using it constantly, even thought the big version was £5 I decided I loved it too much not to buy it. I spray it in my wardrobe, over my clothes and on myself when I want something lighter than perfume. It's light fruity and floral and smells really comforting, so I of course need it for exams!

This Percy & Reed Finishing Polish came free with a magazine a while ago (may have been Glamour, I'm not sure). I haven't used it yet, but after falling head over heels in love with their deep conditioner I'm sure I'll love this too.

At the checkout at Primark I found this Hask Argan Oil mini for £1 so I bought it on a whim. It's not too shabby despite the price, and the tiny bottle makes it great to pop into my bag for nights out.

Another freebie was this gorgeous Ciaté nail polish in Pocket Money. I love Ciaté polishes, and this colour is a beautiful addition to my collection, especially with the cute packaging. More things should have bows on...seriously.

I've been really feeling the need to buy an orange lipstick for summer, I chose this Maybelline Colour Sensational lipstick in Electric Orange. It's a lovely colour and quite sheer, so I can wear it quite lightly until I feel brave enough with the colour to layer on more.

Finally I decided I needed another Rimmel Apocalips in my life, this time in the beautiful shade Luna. I've been wearing this colour everyday to the library to cheer myself up, it's just so gorgeous and the formulation makes me happy every time I wear it.

Okeysmokeys, I need to get a wiggle on with today's revision, or it'll never get done!

Good luck for everyone currently struggling through exams!

Winter Haircare

Hello! I've had such a busy weekend, and I'm finally able to relax now, I put on my fuzzy socks, knitted cardigan and am nibbling on some Thorntons chocolates (because everyone needs a yummy treat after a tiring weekend!).

Yesterday I went kayaking again, I had such a great time and didn't swim once (lucky really as the river was incredibly cold). However when I got back home I realised what a state my hair was in: knotty, dry and generally feeling a bit sorry for itself. So I decided to throw on a hair mask and get my hair into great condition this winter.

If you're not going in cold rivers every other weekend there are loads of hair products to keep your hair in good condition over the winter (they're still good even if you are going in rivers too :P). Here are my favourites:

Firstly my Tresemme heat defence spray. When the air outside is cold it's really bad for your hair to go out when wet, so after a shower I spritz this all over my hair and blow dry.

When I don't have to go outside right away I let my hair dry naturally (as I try and limit the amount of heat I use on my hair over winter). Because my hair is naturally frizzy I use John Freida's Frizz Ease Curl Reviver Styling Mousse to keep my hair looking good. I really love this product, I've been using it for about 3 years and it works wonders.

I have a few hair masks I like to use, but my favourite is the Percy & Reed Totally TLC Hydrating Mask. It smells gorgeous (marshmallowy ^ - ^) and it feels really pampering to put it all over your hair and wrap your head up in a towel for a while. Once it's washed out my hair always feels extra silky.

Whenever my hair's had a bad day and I don't have time to put a mask on I use the Umberto Giannini Overnight Beauty Moisture Balm. A little goes a long way with this product, so it's lasted for ages. I put a tiny bit on my hands and run it through my hair, from the middle down, it feels and looks a little greasy at first, but when you wake up it's all melted into your hair and the result is soft and smooth.

Hope you've liked my favourite winter haircare products ^ - ^

Percy & Reed Totally TLC Hydrating Mask

Despite telling myself that I was 100% not allowed to buy anything frivolous this month (which I have technically broken already) I decided that paying £2 for Glamour this month to receive a free product of Percy & Reed Totally TLC Hydrating Mask was allowed :P
Firstly I was attracted to this by the gorgeous design, it looks really sleek and chic with a cute drawing of a girl with enormous hair :P I'm not going to lie, the packaging was the reason I paid any attention to it, but hey, that's what packaging is meant for :P

I used this earlier and I had to google instructions for use, because the ones on the back aren't very good. I wasn't entirely sure if  I had to put it on wet or dry hair or how long the best amount of time was (it said minimum 10 minutes). I found (on the Red website) that people saw the best results when their hair was slightly damp, so I used my hands to pour a small amount of water evenly over my hair and squeezed the excess out, and for about 20 minutes.

I made put my hair up and under a plastic bag turban (which I made myself :P) and then wrapped a towel around it as the instructions did say it worked best when warm. I had a fun 20 minutes wandering around with a hot pink turban then went to the shower to wash it off.
I have to say I really like this product, I don't usually use hair masks really, I think I've only ever tried one before and that was quite a while ago so I'm no expert. Since my hair has been incredibly dry recently I thought this was amazing. My hair really feels soft and silky. This is quite a good bargain as there is 100ml in the tube and I used two tiny blobs and I have medium length hair. I can't wait to use it when I've finally gotten my hair cut to get rid of all my nasty split ends (boooooo split ends, go away).
Percy & Reed also have a 'heat activating bonnet' which you can buy to accompany this product, although to me it just looks like a jazzed up shower cap :P I think I'll stick with my pink turban thank you :P
Me and my hair :P
